WELL, here is a quick life update!
I've been studying for the february bar exam since Dec 1. I've been staying on top of the schedule and I've noticed that I know so much more and it is actually a ton easier for me to remember everything abt all 22 subjects on the exam! yes, thats right, 22 subjects: constitutional law, contracts, criminal law/criminal procedure, evidence, real property, torts, civil procedure (my least favorite!!!), suretyships/liens, mortgages, family law(by far my fav/easiest, and virtually always on the bar), professional responsibility, agency/partnership law, corporations, secured transactions (EW), equity, wills, & trusts.
yes that is a lot but somehow it doesnt seem as daunting this time around. Obvi I understand that me not passing last july wasnt completely abt me not knowing enough b/c lets be real, 4 points basically equates to being drowsy the last 10 mins of a morning/afternoon session of the MBE. I've been working on a crapton of MC qs that are on the MBE (b/c that was where I didn't score high enough) and last july i was getting barely 60-65% right (passing is about 62-67% i think) and now, ive been getting b/w 70-80% on my practice tests and everything so that is super exciting.
also, i seem to be a lot more calm than I was last july. Clearly last time i had no idea what I was going into and I put unnecessary pressure on myself (Im the blacksheep in my overachieving family, lets be real here). This time around, I am trying to have more confidence in mysself and I think that has made the most difference in my progress.
ANYWAYS. In non-bar exam news: I am getting a puppy. I have found a couple that I abs love off of Petfinder and I emailed 3 different rescues so far (the first one was already adopted by the time they got my info and the other 2 never replied) but I'm trying not to get too attached and keeping an open mind. I am planning on adopting in March after I am done. Its funny actually that no one in my family, my mom excluded, thinks that I can do it so thats unfortunate but its like whatevs. I'm going to have to be an adult come here in less than 4wks so Its time I make adult decisions on my life. I've been doing a ton of research on which breeds would be preferable/best for my lifestyle and what would be most compatible. I also found some vets/grooming/boarding places that have been recommended, and gotten a basic idea of the expenses. I knw getting a dog is a major financial investment as well, esp in the first year, and I knw I dont have a job right now but I have saved a ton and I think for this situation, it'll be ok to dip into my savings just a little to facilitate this new part of my life. I think I rly j want a dog b/c I really want like a life companion. Lets be rls here, Ive been living alone for almost 4 yrs now and I'm clearly single and no prospects on the horizon so its like why not? I have so much change going on in my life this year (which normally would freak me out but I'm trying to embrace being in a new place in my life) and I feel like having a puppy and taking care of him/her will not only provide some consistency in life but also help me be a little less selfish and take care of someone other than myself.
umm, what else? I'm going to DC the wkend after the bar to see my bff frm college and then march 12-17 im going to the beach w my mom and sis. nothing too fancy but j somewhere warm to relax some!
in regards to running, I'm doing a 10K in Danville on Mar 10 (or whatev that Sat is) and then Im thinking about doing the half marathon in Concord, NC on March 25 but I rly dont want to do it alone and no one has shown any interest in doing it w me. IDK at this point but Im trying to find a half marathon in April or May (preferably april before it gets ooc hot down here) so if I can find one, then i probs won'
t do the March one. ALSO, I decided I am definitely doing another Disney race this year. Right now, I'm debating b/w the Disney Wine & Dine half marathon in November 9-10 and the The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10-Miler Weekend Sept 28-29. I'm not 100% sure yet which one to do,
any recommendations?
ANYWAYS, theres my life in a nutshell. I'll be intense studying the next 25 days (not like my 12-15hr days like last summer, but a more reasonable 8-10hrs a day).
The bar exam is Feb 28-29 in Raleigh. Wish me luck!!!
xoxoManisha:)
(ps I'll be back at some point in march)
