Best of Playlist Wednesday!

Well, I'm getting really close to my race and it just dawned on me during my run this past Sunday morning that I haven't updated my running playlist since JULY! How insane is that? I am definitely going to need help with some suggestions for new additions before I leave on the 17th for my race! I desperately need to update and any suggestions in the genres of Calvin Harris or Jay-Z/Eminem would be greatly appreciated!

Also, it literally hit me when I was driving home from work that I'm running the Detroit International Half Marathon in ELEVEN DAYS. Ohhh, no big deal… I don't even know what I'm going to wear! Crazy!

In lieu of new songs to share, because let's be real, there haven't been new additions to the playlist in nearly 2.5 months so I thought why not do a 'best of' post! Here are some of my favorites that I can't seem to get rid of off my playlist and will definitely get me through this last week and half before my big race:

• Lose Yourself- Eminem
• Does this song really need any explanation? "Success is my only motherf-ing option, failure's not."
• Heaven is a Place on Earth- Belinda Carlisle
• This song has literally been on my running playlist since I ran my first half marathon back in 2011! Love it and love the 80s!
• Forever- Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne & Eminem
• Ahhh another favorite that's been on my playlist since 2010! I think I fell in love with Drake and all his emotions back when I first heard this song so I love running to this one!
• American Boy (feat. Kanye West)- Estelle
• I just love how damn catchy this song is! I tend to sing aloud when I run and this is definitely a fun song that I just love!
• DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love (feat. Pitbull)- Usher
• ummm, this song takes me back to things from fall 2010 but I try to ignore those silly thoughts and just enjoy my Ursher and upbeat music! This song never fails to get me going during a run!
• Hold It Against Me- Britney Spears
• OK, say what you want about Britney but this song is pure genius. I mean "You feel like paradise, and I need a vacation tonight"-- lyrical amazingness. I love having Britney on my playlist but this has definitely been a staple since her last album came out! 
• Feel so Close- Calvin Harris
• I am pretttty obsessed with Calvin Harris. His music is one of my favorites for my running playlists but this song is definitely one of my favorites!
• I'm Real (feat. Ja Rule) [Murder Remix featuring Ja Rule]- J.Lo feat. Ja Rule
• I don't care what people think about Ja Rule. I've been obsessed with this song since I was 15 and I love having this song on my running playlist! 
• What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)- Kelly Clarkson
• This song really needs no explanation! It is just a great song to keep me motivated and encourages me to keep pushing through whatever negative thoughts and feelings and accomplish my goal.
• Glamorous (Feat. Ludacris)- Fergie
• Well, this is just for fun! I love Ludacris so this is mainly for his portion in this song but I love how ridiculous it is too!
• Mowtown Philly- Boyz II Men
• Every time I hear this song, without a doubt I think of that one episode of Full House where Stephanie messed up in her dance recital to this song. This is another one I love to sing out loud when I run and always get funny looks haha!
• We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris)- Rihanna
• Oh Calvin Harris, you musical genius! I'm not a huge Riri fan but I love this song. 
• Get Lucky (feat. Pharrell Williams)- Daft Punk 
• OK, so this song is a newer addition from this past spring/early summer but I'm pretty obsessed with this song and anything with Pharrell so it's an overall winner in my eyes!
• Only Girl (In the World)- Rihanna
• Again, not the biggest Riri fan but there's just something about this song that it never left my running playlist since October 2010! So catchy to sing along with as well!
• Sweet Nothing (feat. Florence Welch)- Calvin Harris
• Ok, I swear, last Calvin Harris song.  Florence Welch just has the most amazing voice and totally makes this song amazing and addictive. I can't help but singing along whenever I hear it so you can imagine how I am when I hear it on my running playlist!

 

A Quick Picture Update!

Things have been pretty insane since I got to Detroit yesterday but thanks to Starbucks I've been surviving the minimal sleep! It's been great seeing all the cousins! I was even able to get my last August run in this morning so its been a pretty good day overall!
We're headed to my brother's fiancée's house for a little get together tonight so that should be fun! Here are some pictures from my first day and half here in Motor City!

Tuesday Thoughts!

Ahhh the past few days have been so low-key but had some interesting life developments! I started my Detroit training last week too so my mind has pretty much been in training overdrive! Here are some of my thoughts from the past week!

My Favorite Suit

Sometimes, wearing just the right outfit can change the entire direction of a day and I knew that yesterday was just the perfect time to pull out my favorite suit! I've worn it before and it's been on here for an OOTD post but I felt the need to share it again since it's literally a game/day- changer for me and definitely did the trick yesterday!

Everything is way too big so I'm going to need to get some things tailored. I still love this whole outfit nonetheless!

A Sunday Shower!

So this weekend, I'm in Maryland for my bhabhi's (my cousin's wife) baby shower! We spend the night at my uncle's house and stayed up late catch I g up and joking around since it's been so long since we were all together!

I went to my parents' house Friday after work and then we all drove up from there Saturday morning. No lie, it literally took us 8 hours for a drive that is usually 5 hours.  We were so exhausted by the time we reached Maryland but glad we made it in one piece/safely with all the traffic!!

Today, we were up super early to get ready,especially in a house filled with Indians and limited bathroom space hah! My cousin was nice enough to drive me to a local Starbucks so I could feed my skinny vanilla iced latte addiction and get some coffee for my other cousins too!

We were on India time hahah so everything was about an hour behind schedule but the baby shower was still fun and all of the cultural ceremonies were done. A few games and dancing later, it was time for dinner! We had some great food options and I think for the first time in forever I ate everything in my plate!!

We're headed back to my parents' house and then whatever time it may be, I'll be on my way to my house since I have work tomorrow!! It's been a crazy 48hours but I'm glad I made it for my cousin's wife!

My Love for Tom Haverford

Today, I want to share my love for that silly little brown man we all know and love as Tom Haverford.  I remember when I first watched Parks & Recreation when it first came on because I had/have such a major girl crush on Amy Poehler from SNL & I knew I had to watch this new show. Well, I've also been re-watching Parks& Rec from the beginning on Netflix to get my summer fix too haha.

Little did I know that after watching for the past what, 4 or 5 years, that ridiculous Tom Haverford would be so hilariously cute. OK, ok, I know this is so silly becuase he is a fictional character and I have yet to watch the Aziz Ansari comedy specials I have on my Netflix queue but seriously. Tom Haverford sometimes speaks the things I think in my mind. Don't get me wrong, he is plenty ridiculous but hilarious moreso in the later seasons!

"When I'm dating someone, I have a list called my 'Oh No Nos.' If a woman commits a Oh No No, it can end the relationship.  Not loving '90s R&B music is #3 on the Oh No Nos list.  Girl don't even know who Ginuwine is."

Seriously, not loving 90s R&B really is #3 (ok maybe #2?) on my Oh-No-No list. I've been listening to the 90s R&B station on Pandora for YEARS and when I saw the episode where Ann had no idea who Ginuwine (Donna's cousin) was, I was equally disgusted and shocked as Tom. SRSLY. Differences, Pony, etc, how do you NOT know who Ginuwine is?? BTW, has he come out with any new music since then????

ALSO- who doesn't need a treat-yo-self day every now and then?? I love his and Donna's friendship- so weird but makes so much sense at the same time.
