National Running Day 2013

HAPPY NATIONAL RUNNING DAY!!!

Nationalrunningday2013

I started running in August of 2009 when I made the decision to change my life and better my future by making my health a priority. I come from a family with a history of diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart problems. It took me 23 years to get my head on straight and realize that if I didn't change something, any or all of those ailments will be in my life within a matter of years.  Over the course of the next year and half, I ran from 3x a week to every other day and eventually lost over 85lbs.  My high cholesterol and blood pressure went down to a healthy stage and I felt great for the first time in my life!

Ever since I started running, no matter what was going on (law school, bar exam, family, life, etc), I knew that running was and would remain the one constant in my life.  No matter what I was doing/where I was, running would keep my head on straight and always bring me back to reality! Running really is the best therapy!  Right now, even though I'm not in my best shape, I have had a year of PRs with my running in 4 distances (5K, 8K, 10K, & HM) and I attribute all of that to how running makes me feel and wanting to change my life.

Also, I run for wine.

Are you a runner? Why do you run?

  1. Congrats on making your health a priority, and for all of your PR's! I run for the health benefits, for the social aspect, and because I've been a runner for so long that I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I didn't run!

BTW, fellow Hokie here! GO HOKIES!!!
