Ahhhhh I am so behind in life!!! The past 3 weeks I've been so MIA after 3 consecutive weekends of trips out of town without my computer so blogging was limited to my phone, which I hate doing so here is June's Month in Review-- albeit 11 days late!
As you can tell, June was a VERY low mileage month for me. Only 45.2 miles and only roughly 11 hours of running. It was so hard for me to get moving in June after 3 trips out of the 4 weekends last month as well as the blistering North Carolina heat keeping me indoors!
The first week of June started off slow- I was in NJ for my cousin's wedding but the week following I stuck to my 3 days of running which ended with the Blue 5K on the Runway at PTI and a 5K PR! This was a great and exciting way to start off my month!
The second week of June I wanted to make a point of building my mileage back up and being consistent with my running again after taking a lot of time off in May from illnesses. I had some consistent runs greater than 5K distance and some in the 4 mile range which was great!
The third week of June was pretty disappointing. I only had 2 runs, one being less than 2 miles(!!!!!). I was out of town that weekend in NYC for my brother's surprise proposal weekend and I did a TON of walking (too bad I never kept a record because it would've drained my phone battery all day) so I feel like everything evened out without getting the third run done.
The fourth week of June was sufficient. That may sound weird but I felt pretty indifferent about my progress because I reverted back to quick 30 minute runs and even though I had all three runs completed, I was pretty unsatisfied with maintaining my mileage from the second week of June. The last weekend in June I was in Maryland for my cousin's wife's baby shower so I was a bit thrown off at the end of the month.
Ultimately, I feel like June was a good step towards getting back in half marathon shape and I nearly doubled my mileage from May so it isn't a complete disappointment right? I feel like with all the traveling I did this month, it took me forever to recover from the flights and car rides so when I eventually got home, I needed a couple extra days to recover- maybe I'm getting old and my old lady bones need more time to get back in the groove?
my thoughts on constant summer travels...
I had a lot of personal things come up and distract me and kept me unfocused for a lot of the month but thankfully, those unnecessary & irrelevant distractions are no more so here's to an even better July!!!! Detroit training starts the first week of August so I really need to get my act together this month and get back to my 5 mile base/short run this month!
I need race ideas for July, friends!
How was your June fitness progress??
How do you deal with traveling and maintaining your run schedule?
Any fun and exciting races planned for July??
